Chief Launcher: Chief Engr. G. Masari, Enyi Oha1 of Rumuchiorlu
Representatives of corporate bodies and
Other members of the high table,
Ladies and gentlemen

Mid last year 2006 the Society for Family Health (SFH) a non Governmental Organization came into Rumuchiorlu, Rumuokwurusi with the aim of sensitizing the people on health related issues, especially on the fight against the spread of HIV/AIDS, STDs and unwanted pregnancy/teenage pregnancy as well as family planning etc. this they achieved by sensitizing, training and equipping some youths to carry out this mission effectively. Fortunately, the volunteered youths who happened to be resourceful young men and women with great potentials looking for a fertile ground to unleash these potentials were trained for about nine months after which they formed a Civil Society Organization (CSO) a non-profit making organization to enable them operate within and outside the community.

Rumuchiorlu Youths Organization for Positive Health (RYOPH) was chosen as the name. While the slogan is RYOPH – we care. We care indeed because this place is made for all not just people living with HIV/AIDS who will be coming here for help and gain information on how to live positively with the virus but also for youths who want to build their self-esteem and know more about their values, for men and women who does not live with the virus but want to know how to prevent themselves from getting the virus, as well as the married who want to plan their families by spacing their child bearing appropriately.

To add to what our parent body (SFH) and other NGO's who have contributed immensely on the fight against HIV/AIDS have done, we have the following as our aim;

To enlighten/sensitize the public on reproductive health issues with more emphasis on HIV/AIDS, STDs and unwanted/teenage pregnancy.

•  To sensitize the youths with the fundamentals of goal setting, how to build self esteem, values and character. This means that by the time we     are     due with training any set of youths such youths self esteem would have been built for them to stand any where and represent themselves     without any form of inferiority complex, they will come to realize their values and understand that every individual is specially made for a     purpose and have no duplicate, when they imbibe this to themselves they cannot give out their life for few minutes of momentary pleasure.

•  To enlighten the married on the advantages of family planning /child spacing. As can be seen in our work plan for the first one year our major target is the youths, as well as  students, company personnel and the married. Therefore we crave your indulgence to permit us to work with you.

ACHIEVEMENT

Within a year of its conception the organization has:

•  Sensitized not less than 50 youths in its regular forth night peer group section on HIV/AIDS, STDs, facts about condoms as stated in our     objectives.

•  Has carried out rallies/ campaigns against HIV/AIDS with dramas which have to do with facts about condoms,, abstinence, safer sex and     sharing of Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials with music as side attraction.

•  Has had series of trainings by society for family Health (SFH), Youth Fate Renaissance (YFR), and Action Aid International Nigeria (AAIN) on    capacity building and how to run a CSO effectively.

•  Has registered herself as a Civil Society Organisation (CSO)

•  Has opened its website: www.ryoph.org - infact the first CSO soo trained to have a website.
Had collaborated with SFH & AFPAC in campaign against HIV/AIDS during the All Naval Games, 2007 - at Port Harcourt.

CHALLENGES

•  As a non profit organization, the greatest challenge is finance as it involves money to effectively carry out the programmes in her workplan,     moreover its not easy to gather youths regularly with little or no money.

•  We need to equip our office with facilities that will enable a good working environment and those that will keep us informed on new developments     to meet up with global standard as the world is becoming a global village and also one that will give us easy access to our areas of operation     e.g (computers, internet system, vehicles etc).

SUSTAINABILITY

The Organisation hopes to sustain itself by the donation of individuals ,corporate bodies and other bigger Oganisations that have the interest of the youths and concern on the reduction of the spread of HIV/AIDS, STD's.

I want to use this opportunity to inform some NGO's, companies banks and other corporate bodies present to expect our proposals and identify with us in areas you can as you will not regret any contributions / assistance you render to this organization.

We hope also to sustain the organization by keeping our members well informed regularly with latest information on HIV/AIDS and other health related issues and new innovation by organizing workshops, seminars and exposing our members to things and places that will always keep them informed because you cannot give out what you do not have for when you stop learning you start fading.

Ladies and gentlemen, support us to achieve our goal.

Thank you.

Delivered by RYOPH President - Emmanuel Chukwuemeka, Worgu
